MOBILE APPLICATION DESIGN

About the project
Design a tourism app for San Andrés Islands, created to help you plan your adventures easily and with style. Everything you need to make the most of your trip is right at your fingertips: find the ideal accommodation, from luxury hotels to cozy hostels. Plus, explore exciting tours, local events, discover the best restaurants, and enjoy unique experiences that will make every trip unforgettable.
UNDERSTAND
Research
For this project, we applied the User-Centered Design (UCD) methodology, beginning with a thorough research phase. From the outset, we collaborated with a tourism expert whose involvement was essential throughout the entire process. His deep understanding of the destination, along with first-hand knowledge of how tourists book services and purchase products, provided a valuable and specialized perspective.
In addition, we conducted interviews with the various service providers involved in the project. These stakeholders came from different areas within the tourism sector, making it crucial to understand not only their needs as users of the system, but also how to effectively present their products and services to tourists. This stage helped us identify the specific context in which the solution would be implemented, grasp the unique complexity of each provider, and design an experience that would communicate their value to tourists in a clear, compelling, and functional way.

IDEATE
Solution
As part of the solution, three digital platforms were developed: a mobile application, a website, and an information system. For service providers, an intuitive environment was created to easily publish and manage their offerings, regardless of the type of product—accommodation, food services, tours, transportation, beachwear, among others. For tourists, the experience was designed to give them access to a wide, reliable, and verified selection of services in one place, ensuring a safe and seamless travel experience.
The platforms also provide key information about the island and its main attractions, enhancing the visitor experience. Additionally, the information system collects and visualizes relevant tourism data, allowing service providers to tailor their strategies, offer discounts, and highlight specific services more effectively.
User flow
Wireframes
Wireframes were used as a key tool to test the application's functionalities with both stakeholders and end users. These early prototypes allowed validation of the structure and navigation flow, enabling feedback at the initial stages of the project. By interacting with the wireframes, stakeholders could assess whether the functionalities aligned with business objectives, while end users provided valuable insights into usability and the overall experience. This ensured that the final design met both user needs and project goals.
